In fine, Amaizing will result in the:
- Development of a large set of new molecular markers from the resequencing of lines and from the first exploration of the epigenome
- Characterization of genetic resources (flint and dent panels)
- Development of novel breeding methods such as genomic selection
- Evaluation of the impact of nitrogen treatments, tolerance to drought and frost, and heterosis
- Determination of a top list of genes or regions in the maize genome that will show a strong contribution to stress tolerance or heterosis
- Validation of new breeding methods, and agricultural practices to support a paradigm shift in sustainable maize production in France and beyond;
- Improvement of bioinformatics platform to accelerate association genetics and trait discovery and provide breeders with user-friendly tools to support decision making;
